Yesterday, I attended the MMEA conference in Ypsilanti, MI. I was able to attend some great sessions with keynote speaker, Georgia Newlin, and EMU Music Professor, Dr. Shouldice, and also Stephanie Schall-Brazee, from Traverse City.
I learned Bach's way of understanding modes, how to help young children sing in their head voice, applications of Gordon's Music Learning Theory, and got to sight sing some middle school 2 part choral works. I found insight from Feierabend Music Education Philosophies. The day finished up with sequencing singing games/dances for use with elementary students.
The weekend was enhanced by accommodations with my sister, Teresa, who was also celebrating her birthday on Friday the 13th. I got to see my favorite puppy-nephew, Rory. We had a nice visit. Just the get-away I needed before midterms this week.
Have a great week!
