Practice Every Day!
One thing many students struggle with is how to find time to practice every day. For me, it's often just getting started. I have so much to cover, I don't even start thinking about what I need to do. Here are two hints:
1) write goals for the day and the week which connect to the larger goal.
For example: Overall Goal: Memorize Fur Elise. Weekly Goal: play first section three times per day. Daily Goal: Analyze chord structure and say aloud while playing.
2) commit to playing 10 minutes minimum a day.
Here is a great routine to help get things going:
Here's talented pianist Peter Bence with his newest loop/piano composition. You are welcome.
I have enjoyed continuing music lessons on Zoom for the past few months. It has been a time of learning for all of us during these uncertain times. The therapeutic benefit of continuing with innovative ways to learn, practice, and perform has been awesome. Music therapy for me personally has been to explore new repertoire and new ways of sharing with students.
Since I have already had inquiries, I wanted to let you all know that I will continue to offer music lessons during the summer. Lessons will be on Zoom, and for 1/2 hour lessons only. You do need a smart phone, tablet, or computer with webcam and audio feed. I will be offering piano, clarinet, guitar, and ukulele. Unfortunately, I will be discontinuing vocal and all other instrument lessons. I need to find some other resources and methods before continuing these type. Check back with me in the fall regarding voice or other instruments. I welcome any insight or technical advice you can provide over the summer. Please email or call me to share your ideas.
This summer, I will be researching, developing and presenting educational music Webinars, continuing my "living room" concerts on Facebook live (KMD Music Studio), and expanding repertoire. Again, if you have particular musical topics for which you would like instruction or information, send them my way!
p.s. I have also had questions about fall music lessons. I will NOT be working with either Niles or Hamilton project based learning platforms. At this point, online lessons are what I am providing. If you would like to receive information going forward for the fall, send a request, and I'll keep you in the loop.
