Hi!
If you are looking for a fun summer activity for yourself or your children, this is the place! I am certified by the State of Michigan to teach K-12 music. I also have 30 years experience as a performer and private music instructor. PIANO: My methods vary according to student goals: reading music, improvising, playing charts, secular, sacred and pop. I've got the resources!! VOICE: A long time choral and solo singer, accompanist. and director: I'm ready to coach for all genres. GUITAR: I've played for years off and on, and mainly teach beginners both folk and classical. WOODWINDS: a clarinet and saxophone player, I am familiar teaching advanced students. Other woodwinds, I easily handle beginners. BRASS: not an accomplished player, I do know basics to teach beginners. STRINGS: I focus on ear training, music theory, musicality, and foundational technique here. I'm still putting together my private music student schedule for the summer. Students typically have 6-8 lessons during the summer months. I will work around our vacation schedules. I always schedule siblings back to back. Because they take a larger time slot, I will place them first. Next, I configure hour-long students. Then, I work half-hour students around that. Since this is basically my summer job, I like to have at least 35 students, because that usually means around 23 on any given week. This is what I can service around my summer concert schedule with Sam's Swing and Calder City Concert Band. I currently have five sibling groups, five hour-long students, and 17 half hour students. Available Lessons are M-Th 10am - 5pm. Questions? Contact: karenyonkers62@gmail.com Cell (leave message or text) 616 648 3011 Let me know your 1st and 2nd preferred days and times. Also your vacation plans. talk to you soon! Ms. Karen

![]() Wow, it's been over a month since I've posted! I have been pretty busy with teaching K-5 music M-F in elementary school, then a few private music students most week nights. I am missing Calder City Concert Band and Sam's Swing Band (both their rehearsals are during the day). However, I have still gotten my performance fix with Rockford Community Band and Shir Shalom Chorus. Finally, my keyboard skills are kept sharpened with my work in religious services on Wednesdays and weekends. A busy June coming for me. I am currently setting up my summer lesson schedule. I'll be teaching any band or orchestra instrument, or voice, and piano. A great way to keep your skills up during the summer months.
